Flower Confetti & Crafts

Flower Confetti & Crafts

Last month one of my favorite holidays rolled around and I was fully prepared to celebrate with crafts, brunch, and shopping! It was Galentine’s Day! Traditionally celebrated the day before Valentine’s Day, it is the day to show your love and appreciation for all the gals in your life.

I hosted a DIY Happy Hour brunch at Oh Pink! Party Shop on a Sunday morning. The boutique was full of Cleveland babes and we made flower confetti, decorated galentines at the craft bar, shopped, sipped mimosas and snacked on croissants and strawberries.

The Galentine Craft Bar was sponsored by Darice and full of pink and purple pompoms, blank cards and patterned paper ready to be cut and glued any way the heart desired.

Happy hour brunch guests also created flower confetti! I organized dried flowers that I had grown and harvested myself into vases down a table. Everyone had scissors and went through the flowers to snip off the blooms they wanted in their confetti mix. About 50 or so flower buds made up the flower confetti that was displayed in a clear, round Libbey vase.

If you are interested in making your own flower confetti I have a blog post dedicated to drying flowers that you can use as your guide. Just keep in mind a few things if your flowers will be used as confetti:

1. Make sure the flowers are totally dried. If not, they may create mold.

2. You can store your flowers in an enclosed vessel, but again, make sure the flowers are completely dry. If you are afraid they aren’t dry, display the flower confetti in an open bowl or vase.

3. For the full effect of confetti, make sure the flower bud is cut at the base and there isn’t any stem showing.

4. Keep your flower confetti away from direct sunlight and it will keep the vibrant colors longer.
